Knoxville Ice Bears surge ahead

KNOXVILLE – The Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Mississippi Surge for the forth time this season in a shoot out  at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The Surge, a new Southern Professional Hockey League expansion team, has never defeated the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Maryville College holds fine arts auditions

MARYVILLE – Maryville College Division of Fine Arts will hold competitions for two full scholarships. One will be awarded in music and another in either theatre or art. Area high school students who are interested in majoring in art are invited to the competitive portfolio reviews, which will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Jan. 16 in the new Clayton Center for the Arts.

New Marble Springs director hired

KNOX COUNTY – The Governor John Sevier Memorial Association has hired Anna Schaad as the new Executive Director for Marble Springs, the Governor John Sevier Home in South Knox County.

Sevier 4-H youth speaking event Jan 11

SEVIER COUNTY, TN – Nervous jitters, weak knees and a butterfly in the stomach. These are often the feelings experienced when speaking before a group. 4-H members can learn to overcome these feelings by participating in the 4-H public speaking activity. Last year over 2,600 Sevier County 4-H Members took part in public speaking, by giving a speech at their local club. This year’s public speaking emphasis is taking place in January 4-H Club Meeting.
