MORRISTOWN, Tenn. – It was a struggle, but the No. 6 Walters State women’s basketball team remained perfect on the season at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the TCAAA after a 70-56 win over Dyersburg State Saturday afternoon at ‘Z’ Buda Gymnasium.

Sophomore forward Jessica Jones had a career-best 24 points and nine rebounds in the contest for the Lady Senators. All-American sophomore guard LaKrystle Goss finished with 10 points and five steals while sophomore Megan Peterson and freshman Jama Hammontree each netted 10 points.

For the contest, Walters State was 20 of 53 from the field (4 of 11 on 3-point shots) for 37.7 percent while making 26 of 41 free throws.

Dyersburg State was led in scoring by Kala Tyus with  13 points. Bethany Oakley and  Becky Caldwell each had  11 while Kyisha Ricks finished with 10,

The Lady Senators are back in action Friday, Nov. 27 in the Georgia Perimeter tournament.
