KNOXVILLE – - Hot to Trot races will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, in Turkey Creek Shopping Area on Parkside Dr.  The races start at 7:30 a.m. and will include a 5K, a 10K, and a Fun Run.  Fleet Feet Sports is proud to partner with the title sponsor Mercy Health Partners to build on the tradition of the Baptist Turkey Trot.  It will reintroduce an event that focuses on active lifestyle and benefits the local community.

Fleet Feet Sports is working with other Turkey Creek Shopping Area retailers to present a top notch event.  Mercy’s commitment to wellness extends beyond the walls of the hospitals   The proceeds from the event will benefit Catholic Charities with a separate food drive to help Sister Martha’s Food Pantry.   New balance joins in as the exclusive apparel & footwear vendor.   A major partner in a healthy lifestyle, New Balance shows again its commitment to Fleet Feet Sports’ mission of awareness & activity. 

The Hot to Trot races promise to bring something for every member of the family from a competitive format for the racers to a relaxed atmosphere for the casual walkers in the family.  According to Shahin Hadian, owner of Fleet Feet Sports, “Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and we hope this race encourages families to get active together in support of a good cause.  Not to mention that it’s also a great way to get their exercise accomplished before having the traditional Thanksgiving meal with family and friends.  We would love to see this event to become their new Thanksgiving Day tradition.”  

At least 50 of the entries are already filled.  This event has been designated as the target race for Fleet feet sports’ No Boundaries Begin to Run 5k Training Program.  This 12-week training program introduces new comers to an active lifestyle by helping them achieve their first or best 5km. This will be the 4^th session for such training programs with the last one supporting the School for Deaf 5k early in May 2009 with close to 50 participants.
