Can't afford a lawyer?
Legal Aid of East Tennessee is a non-profit law firm that provides free legal help to low-income persons in civil matters. Many of LAET’s cases focus basic necessities of life such as food, shelter, income, health care, education, family stability, safety, consumer protection, equal rights, and fundamental human dignity. LAET places a special emphasis on domestic violence and housing matters. LAET also works with community groups on economic development issues as well as providing general legal education to the public. Persons interested in speaking with an LAET advocate can call 637-0484 to schedule an appointment in Sevier County. Legal Aid meets with clients in Sevier County the second Wednesday of each month from 1-3 p.m.
